How to throw a birthday party without getting shot! It's time to plan a great birthday party and your son or daughter wants a Paintball Birthday Party! And, you don't know the first thing about paintball. We'll give you a few tips to help you plan the party and make sure you have a great time! It is time you joined the millions of Americans who have discovered paintball. Paintball is the fastest growing team sport and even surpassed baseball in the numbers playing the game. If you play at a professional field, your party should be fun for all players. In general, games last between 5-9 minutes, depending on how many players are playing and the type or game. Most games are capture the flag or simple elimination - you keep playing until the last person of the other team is "out." Once you get hit, you are "out" until the next game begins. It is ESSENTIAL that the player keeps his/her goggles on until the referee signals that it is safe to take them off. Age: Minimum of 10 years of age. Waivers: All players should have a waiver - if under 18, then the parent should sign their approval and permission to play and to release the field from liability. Time: Most parents choose to let their son/daughter to play for a couple of hours. Check with your field to see if they have customized plans for 2-hour games. This helps you better control your budget and time. Location: Most paintball fields are located on someone's farm or open land far from the metroplex. However, an increasing number of paintball fields are located within the city and quite central to most players. Xdrenalin(TM) Zone Paintball on Lake Grapevine is in the heart of the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex. Some options include indoor fields where the climate is controlled. Ultimately, it is your choice. Cost: The factors that determine cost are time, number of players and how much paint is used. On average, it costs approximately $10-15 per hour per person to play paintball. If your son or daughter has an electronic maker and hopper, they know how much paint they use per hour. Rental customers should be encouraged to shoot the gun about 25-30 times per game - only when they can see someone to shoot. Otherwise, paint will go quickly and costs will escalate. Private Event: It is your option whether or not to make your event private (playing only against each other). Check with fields you are considering to see if they have an option for a private referee for groups as small as 10 players. Most require groups of 20 without a premium fee. Referees: Make sure that any place you play has qualified referees. It is important that referees have the maturity to manage the game and keep everyone safe. We recommend a minimum of 16 years of age for a referee, but many fields allow anyone to ref. Just ask. Food: Most fields allow you to bring in your own food. Some, offer the ability to order Pizza from their field for delivery from local pizza shops. If you eat food from a paintball field, make sure that the venue is licensed for food by the Health Department. You might be surprised if you don't ask. Alcohol: No. Not under any circumstances - even for adults Gifts: Ask to see if the Paintball Field has a store associated with it with gift cards good at both the field and store. It is often difficult to choose a gift for a teenager - and paintball gift cards make great gifts. Have fun: Whether you play or not, have a good time. Your kids will have excellent exercise and will be quite worn out by the time they are finished.
